Just got back into town and was anxious to come back to The Beach Pub.
This visit I had the New Zealand Grass Fed Ribeye Steak with mushrooms, one of the specials with a baked potato ( real butter and sour cream). I have never had a grass fed piece of beef before and the was an unexpected opportunity, the taste is similar to a regular ribeye, yet had a uniqueness about it. Kind of hard to describe unless you have had both, there is a subtle detectable difference. They really cooked it just right-med rare more toward the rare side. With this I had a local drink: Pungo Red beer, offered on draft, it was pretty good, had a significant amount of bitters. My husband had the Fish and Chips, a good standby and a bowl of beef vegetable soup-hearty loaded with lots of tender beef and plenty of veges.
They also bring you a basket of assorted crackers with a generous supply of crackers with real butter and butter substitutes.
They offer some terrific and creative specials along with standard fare that has been a draw for many years, Locals love it here, prices are great, service is on top of everything.
