Crabbing is not incredibly difficult but does require patience. Nevertheless, as purveyors of fresh seafood it is always interesting to see what it would take to catch fresh crabs.

Crab catching does not seem inherently hard but like I mentioned before you have to be very patient. There are a also a few simple methods you can use.

Very simple crab catching methods

The video went over a couple simple crab catching methods including using a line or a trap. They also had differing degrees of effectiveness from what I saw on the clip.

The Line Method

The line method was the most simple using chicken as bait and than slowly luring the crab once on the line. Once near the crab a net it is used to scoop it up and get it out of the water. Some crabs were caught this way. It seemed inexpensive and effective. It did require a lot of patience and finesse as many of the crabs got away before they could be scooped.

The Trap Method

The trap method used a simple metal cage that you lower into the water and wait until a set time to remove the trap. Clearly either the bait or the trap was not getting it done as no crabs were caught this way. There was also not a lot of interactivity like the line method.
